Vatanyachi usal

( white pea curry)


Serve -   12 person



INGREDIENTS :-



Vegetable oil                                                   :   1/2 cup + 2 tsp
Onion (thinly sliced)                                         :   2 medium
ginger                                                              :  10 gms (chopped)
garlic                                                               :   5 flakes
Coconut leaves (chopped)                               :   2 tsp
Red chilli powder                                            :   2 tsp
Water                                                             : 5 cup
onion ( chopped)                                             :  2 medium
tomatoes ( chopped)                                       :  2 medium
salt                                                                  :  4 tsp
dry white peas                                                 : 3 cup ( soaked overnight and drained) .


                                                                      METHODS :-                                                                       


1.Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan , add sliced onion, ginger and garlic. fry till onion are transparent. add coconut and fry till coconut is pale brown. grind together fried ingrerients with coriander leaves, chilli and garam masala powders into a paste, adding a little water (1/2 cup) from time to time.

2. Heat remaining oil in cooker , add chopped onions and fry till pale brown. add ground paste. stir for a few seconds. add tomatoes, salt and 1/4 cup water. cook till tomatoes are pulpy and oil shows seperately , strinng occasionally.

3. add peas and mix well. add remaining water, stir once.

4. close cooker. bring to full pressure on high heat. reduce heat and cook for 12 minutes.

5. remove cooker from heat. allow to cool naturally.

6. open cooker, serve hot..
